As noted last month, there's been a lot of interest and excitement around Desktop Search products and technology. Today you get a chance to try out the beta version of what we call YDS (Yahoo! Desktop Search).

Yahoo! の Desktop Search (YDS) のベータ版が desktop.yahoo.com からダウンロードできるようになっています。

対応しているファイルタイプなどをみると Google Desktop Search よりかなり多くのファイルを検索できるみたいですね。UI は Windows ネイティブアプリケーションになっていてインクリメンタルサーチなどもサポート。

このあたりは GDS から switch するインセンティブになりえますね。ただ、ブラウザから検索したり API 的に利用したりするのも Hack 的には面白いのでそういう道も残しておいてほしいなぁと思ったり。
